About Me
I am an award-wining documentary filmmaker with 25 years of experience in multimedia storytelling, fundraising, and nonprofit management. I manage three production companies — Unladylike Productions (founder), Audacious Women Productions (co-founder) and Inspiration Films (co-founder) — and served twice as Interim Executive Director of the Pulitzer Prize winning non-profit journalism organization Futuro Media (in 2016-2017 and 2021-2022). I was the creator, executive producer, director, and writer of UNLADYLIKE2020, an innovative animated documentary series about unsung women who changed America at the turn of the 20th century and the women who now follow in their footsteps, which premiered on PBS’s flagship biography series American Masters in 2020 in honor of the centennial of women’s suffrage. I spent five years on the production staff of National Geographic Television & Film, reporting from the jungles of the Amazon to the Himalayan Mountains. As a story producer for PBS’s international affairs series Wide Angle from 2005 to 2009, I worked on a dozen documentaries covering issues such as legal reform in China, human rights in Zimbabwe, and race relations in Brazil. I produced the Wide Angle program Class of 2006, about women’s rights in Morocco, which won an International Documentary Association Award. I was nominated for 4 Emmy Awards for Pioneers of Thirteen, a 6-hour series commemorating the flagship PBS station’s 50th anniversary. I was a Producer and Writer for the Climate Reality Project, an environmental initiative presented by Al Gore at the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. I was the Series Producer for America By The Numbers, a PBS series telling underreported stories about America’s changing demographics, and for Humanizing America, a digital shorts series for NBCNews.com profiling the diversity of the American electorate. As an Executive Producer, I am currently mentoring a team of disabled filmmakers to create a digital shorts series for American Masters titled Renegades about historical figures with disabilities and how they transformed America.
